If there are two things we love, it's our dogs and giving to a good cause.
Carrie Perez, owner and artist of Photography by Carrie, wanted to find a way to incorporate both of those things into what she does best: capturing precious life moments and creating heirloom portraits to last a lifetime.
For more than two years, Carrie has made photographing the animals of the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri (HSSEMO) her labor of love. HSSEMO is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of pets and people in Southeast Missouri and supports more than 3,500 animals each year. The organization receives no government or outside funding and relies on volunteer support and donations.
Carrie visits HSSEMO once a week to photograph animals who can be adopted and donates all the images to be used by HSSEMO to help find their forever homes.
It has been her joy to give back to this community and help bring love to the area’s furry friends.
Now, it’s your turn.
Carrie is once again teaming up with HSSEMO to bring the community its first-ever “Dogs of the Heartland” coffee-table style book. The book will be a collection of images featuring beloved canines from all over the region and can include your pup, too!
A $150 donation to HSSEMO will include a 30-minute session and your very own copy of the coffee-table album. It will also include a personalized ordering appointment, allowing you to choose your favorite image for the book. Your family is welcome to be photographed with your dog, as well, at no additional fee! You are more than welcome to purchase additional prints from your session, but there is no obligation to do so.
Not everyone who wants to help HSSEMO is able to adopt an animal. Some families are already too big or they simply don’t have the time required to be a responsible pet owner to another dog. “Dogs of the Heartland” is the perfect way to give back (without gaining another family member) and simultaneously receive beautiful images you will cherish for years to come.
Sessions will begin in January 2019.
